Description

Congratulations on your decision to become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver! Our Advanced course is designed to improve your personal buoyancy & bottom time, introduce you to the fun & excitement of wreck diving, improve your ability to navigate underwater while using a compass and show you how to properly plan for deep dives. We will also show you some great search & recovery techniques that may come in handy on a nice summer day. This course will increase your buddy awareness, challenge you and increase your diving self-confidence.

We hold advanced open water training dives usually at least 2 different weekends a month during our dive season at Haigh Quarry.

You will be participating in five separate PADI Adventure Dives over a period of 2 days. The training site will be at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee Illinois. The dives will be completed on the same weekend over Saturday & Sunday 12pm-5pm on both days. Before your PADI instructor can take you on any dives you will need to have read the Advanced Open Water Diver Manual . In that manual you will find a knowledge review at the end of each chapter. That knowledge review consists of multiple choice answers, fill in the blank and short answer. Each student diver must have their own set of knowledge reviews completed in full. The knowledge reviews are your required homework. There is no classroom or pool time. When we are out at the quarry we will be reviewing the academic information.

One reason you'll love the Advanced Open Water Diver course is that you'll have the opportunity to hone your skills by completing five adventure dives.

Two of the five Adventure Dives are required for Advanced certification:

  • Underwater Navigation dive (after this dive your compass will be your best friend)

  • Deep water dive (typically 80 feet the deepest part of the quarry)

the remaining three adventures dives

  • Wreck Dive (the quarry has a few wrecks to choose from)

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive (the quarry has a fun underwater Buoyancy course)

  • Search & Recovery Dive (we show you some cool search patterns and recovery technique)

And Get This --- Each Adventure Dive in the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course may be credited toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course!
