2010 Lake Michigan
Ship Wreck Diving Schedule

About Lake Michigan:
Lake Michigan is well known for its abundance of shipwrecks. It's a scuba divers playground. Visibility can be up to 100 feet at the beginning of the dive season, but is usually around 30 feet. Many of the wrecks we dive on only require you to be an Open Water Scuba Diver. On occasion we do dive deeper wrecks which will require at least an Advanced Open Water Certification.

About the Charter:
Berry Dive Center charters the boat from Enterprise Marine Inc, which has been catering to scuba divers in Lake Michigan for over  15 years. The professional dive charter boat is a 42 Foot, 30 Ton steel boat which can handle just about anything Lake Michigan can throw at it. The boat is captained by a USCG Licensed Master and has all the necessary first aid/oxygen onboard. We only take 6 divers on each trip so space and comfort are not an issue. Sign up now! Because spots are going fast!

On The Day of the Dive:
Show up at Waukegan Harbor at 6:30 a.m.  Boat leaves at 7:00 a.m. and will return at Noon. You must have all your equipment there is no extra equipment at the boat. You must also have proof of certification and the liability wavier must be completed. Remember that the earlier we are out on the water the easier the lake conditions will be.

Location:
Waukegan Harbor - 199 E. Madison St - Waukegan - IL - 60085
Enterprise is located at the end of the main pier. Equipment may be unloaded into the gear carts and vehicles may then be reparked. Parking at the harbor is free of charge.

Weather:
Trips are not canceled due to rain.  The decision to cancel a trip due to bad weather usually cannot be made until departure time.  Trips may be canceled due to waves and storms.

Our guidelines are:
        2 - 3 ft. waves - Trip proceeds
4 - 5 ft. waves - Drivers may vote to cancel trip
        5 - 6 ft. waves - Trip canceled

The captain will cancel any trip he believes is unsafe and Berry Dive Center will refund all drivers present.

Remember that weather is different on different parts of the lake - Bad weather at the weather buoy in the middle of the lake does not necessarily mean that we will have bad weather at our dive site.
